Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Dayton, Ohio Submissions from the BJJ Guard

This session of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Dayton, Ohio at Tenbears Martial Arts in Dayton, Ohio Academy focused a basic setup from the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio guard position. From this BJJ in Dayton, Ohio guard position it is possible to do BJJ in Dayton, Ohio sweeps as well as BJJ in Dayton, Ohio submissions such as arm bars, triangle chokes, and the omoplata.

The BJJ in Dayton, Ohio guard position setup begins with trapping the opponent’s arm while they are in your BJJ in Dayton, Ohio guard. From there, you bring your legs up to wrap around the opponent’s upper torso, with your leg slightly on top of the opponent’s shoulder on the side of the trapped arm.

To perform the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio sweep from this position, your other hand grabs at the opponent’s pant leg on the opposite side of the trapped arm and the leg on their shoulder swings to that side while lifting up on the opponent’s pant leg with your other hand, creating momentum that should roll the opponent onto their back, putting you in the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio full mount position. This is the best BJJ in Dayton, Ohio position to be in as it presents a lot of opportunities for BJJ in Dayton, Ohio submissions as well as earning the most points in a BJJ in Dayton, Ohio competition.

A basic BJJ in Dayton, Ohio arm bar submission can be done by bringing the leg on the opponent’s shoulder of the trapped arm over their head and arching the hips up to create leverage against the opponent’s elbow.

To perform the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio triangle choke from the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio guard setup position you push the opponent’s free arm through your legs and wrap your legs around their head and arm in a figure four variation, applying pressure against their neck by squeezing the legs together and pushing down on their head.

Lastly, if the opponent defends the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio arm bar by pulling their arm out from between their legs, you can then use their other arm by trapping it against your hip then rolling to the opposite side and sitting up. This will put you in the BJJ in Dayton, Ohio omoplata submission position where you can lean forward against their arm creating leverage against their shoulder.

Sunday’s Brazilian jiu jitsu class at Tenbears martial arts academy in Dayton, Ohio. Our "open mat" class where students have the opportunity to train in any aspect they please this Dayton, Ohio MMA school. Once warmed up, the students that were practicing BJJ ground techniques worked on their Mountaineer sweep from an open guard position at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio. This sweep involves pushing your hips up into your opponent when they have straitened their posture while in your guard, causing their weight to be shifted backwards. The opponent may post a hand on the mat in order to brace themselves from being swept, which is what we want them to do because we then pull that hand into our bodies to break their post and continue to drive them with our hips, ending up in a BJJ full mount position on top of the opponent at this MMA school in Dayton, Ohio. After training in the Mountaineer sweep, we did another sweep that involves being in the BJJ open guard position. First we take one of our legs and bring it over the opponents arm on that side and bring the leg across their chest and putting the foot into their opposite armpit, trapping that arm. From there, we pull the other arm across our body to the opposite side while pushing out with our leg that we have across their chest, breaking their balance and sweeping them and gaining 2 points for the sweep. At Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio we train to compete and for a basic exercise that won’t get boring in Dayton, Ohio. We finished up the "open mat" class at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio by doing some light BJJ sparring to apply the sweeps we just practiced.STAY TUNED TO GET MORE INFO ABOUT BJJ MOVES! On Tuesday’s class at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio

Students warmed up with rolls and break falls then transitioned to elbow knee escapes to condition the body for BJJ training in Dayton. Next they did a drill where they rolled over their partner who was on their hands and knees and practiced landing on the mat properly, then transitioned to the elbow knee escape again through their partner’s hands and knees. This type of drill allows for training in multiple BJJ aspects in Dayton, Ohio. From there, students then did a basic wrestling drill where one partner stayed in the hands and knees position while the other partner placed their chest on the downed partner’s back and practiced spinning in either direction while pinning their opponent down with their body weight. A drill like this helps to keep the opponent pinned to the ground while the student on top moves to different positions in Dayton, Ohio. Students then moved on to practice the "Wilson Guard Pass" which helps students get out of their opponent’s guard while doing BJJ in Dayton, Ohio. It involves the student in guard to put their weight forward onto their downed opponent and under-hooking one of the arms. Then students put their weight on the opposite site of their opponent and pin one leg down, switching their hips to that side and using their free hand to break their opponent’s guard. After that, the student brings their legs over the opponent’s pinned leg to pass the guard and end up in a superior BJJ position in Dayton, Ohio. Another variation of the sweep involves pinning one of the opponents arms behind their back instead of under-hooking it in the beginning of the "Wilson Guard Pass" then performing the rest of the technique ending with a full mount. The student can then bait the opponent into reversing the full mount by putting their weight to one side, ending up with the opponent in their guard with the arm still pinned behind the opponent’s back. The student can then pull the arm upward to create leverage against the opponent’s shoulder, making them "tap out" in Dayton, Ohio. After training in the "Wilson Guard Pass" students then did our "wiping the mat" session where they are able to do live BJJ sparring against resisting opponents to perfect their technique in Dayton, Ohio. Students then finished up class with an abdominal workout followed by some yoga for fighters to help them cool down from BJJ training in Dayton, Ohio.

Tenbears Martial Arts academy in Dayton Ohio is the only Southern Ohio Affiliate School of Marcello C.  Monteiro.  We are privileged to learn some great Techniques that come straight from the professor himself!  Friday a bunch of our students, including myself, went to learn some great Deep Half Guard techniques from some of Marcello's high level students!  When it comes to BJJ these guys are the Cream of the crop!   So, Tenbears in Dayton Ohio is passing along Great BJJ Techniques!  You will not find BJJ at this level in Dayton Ohio unless you are a student at Tenbears!   Come check out are 30 day free trial!

We always start with some warm up drills here at Tenbears in Dayton Ohio.  This is to ensure that we get warmed up properly to get that synovial fluid moving so we have less injuries here at Tenbears in Dayton Ohio.  We start with some rolls and breakfalls so we know how to land if thrown.  Then we move on to some shrimping/hip escape drills.  You just can’t drill these enough!   Now time for some Techniques, I am going to establish half guard control by grabbing my opponents sleeve and pinning it to my thigh; at the same time putting my shin in my opponents armpit with my foot along his back for great control!  Now with my other hand I am going to grab my opponent’s bicep blocking his free arm or grabbing his gi on his knee, always on my hip sitting up.  Now I am going to kick my shin up and feed my arm thru the space I just created at the same time and putting my under hook deep grabbing all the way up on my opponents back or shoulder deeper the better.  I will now start to scoot my hips out so my head is in front of my hips pressing my forehead in opponent’s chest or against his head, you control the head you control the body!  Next I will apply the X Guard to ensure my opponent does not try to pass on that side.  Finally I am going to dive under my opponent’s leg keeping the X guard on the other leg, I want to make sure I dive all the way under coming out the back holding the leg with my arm and kicking the other leg as I come up completing the sweep!

In Sunday’s BJJ technical class at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio we worked on a basic BJJ control technique called the "De La Hiva Hook" In dayton ohio. This BJJ technique involves hooking your foot inside the opponents leg on the inside of their hamstring, then keeping control of their opposite arm while your other foot is placed on the opposite hip of the leg being hooked. A BJJ sweep in dayton ohio can be applied from this control position by sliding your hooked foot up past the opponent’s groin to their opposite hip, then controlling the ankle of the opponent’s hooked leg and their arm on that side as well. From there, you pull on that arm to get the opponent off-balance and push with your hooked foot, driving them to the ground and following them into a side-control position in Dayton, Ohio. Lastly in class we had our live BJJ sparring session in Dayton, Ohio where students practiced applying the "De La Hiva Hook" control position and sweep against a resisting opponent in order to help perfect the technique in dayton ohio.

In Tuesday’s BJJ class at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio, we warmed up with break falls in order to prepare our bodies for being thrown. Next, we reviewed on our shoulder and hip throws, making sure our feet are properly place and our hips squared with our opponent’s hips. Then we lift with our legs in order to get our opponent off their feet in a process called "shelving" your opponent, which is then followed by rolling your opponent off your hips and onto the ground. After working the throws, we worked on our standing submissions; one such example is the "gooseneck" wrist submission in Dayton, Ohio. In order to do this, pressure must be properly placed against your opponents wrist in order to make them "tap out". Lastly, we finished up the BJJ class at Tenbears MMA in Dayton, Ohio with our "wiping the mat" session, which allowed us to apply the different Jiu Jitsu techniques in Dayton, Ohio we have learned against resisting opponents, as well as conditioning the body in order to receive the punishment it endures. After that we transitioned to our version of yoga for fighters in Dayton, Ohio. Don’t forget to take full advantage of our 30 day free training today! Call NOW (937) 361-0200

We train in all aspects of fighting here at Tenbears mma in Dayton, ohio including stand up and ground fighting. Last night in class, we warmed our bodies up with some break falls and rolls as well as elbow knee escapes in or to prepare our bodies for our BJJ training in Dayton, Ohio and prevent injury. Next we worked on our single leg sweeps in Dayton, Ohio. It’s important to train how to properly get your opponent off balance and sweep the leg they have their balance on in order to take them to the ground so that we can apply our BJJ techniques in Dayton, Ohio. Our next technique was your basic shoulder throw, which can be a devastating throw when done correctly. Lastly, we did some standing wrist locks, which are perfect for self-defense in Dayton, Ohio. Situations in which you are facing a larger opponent. It’s amazing how you can control your opponent’s body by just twisting their wrist and keeping their arm extended as far as possible and pulling their body to keep them of balance. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jiu Jitsu class in Dayton, Ohio without "wiping the mat." That is what we call our live training aspect of our BJJ class in Dayton, Ohio where we go round after round against different opponents of different sizes and skill levels in order to properly apply the techniques we’ve learned at Tenbears mma . After we’re done with "wiping the mat," we finished up with a killer ab workout in Dayton, Ohio. Your core is the most important muscle group in your body, especially when doing BJJ in Dayton, ohio, as most of your movement involves using your core muscles.

Class was amazing this evening. After we stretched, to avoid soreness, we drilled rolls and break falls to loosen up and help prevent getting hurt if thrown. Then like always we learn a new Bjj technique and then apply it. Application is the key in learning new moves. After you see the move applied you must drill it many times for it to become second nature. That is the key in training jiu jitsu, to learn as many effective submissions and sweeps as possible. And as you learn the moves you move up through the belt systems, working at getting a black belt.

I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day when I started training.  I started training mainly cause I have always been interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I felt that the self discipline and fitness oriented training would be the positive influence I needed in my life. I have cut down 15lbs since I started training and quit smoking after the first class. The self confidence I got from the training is something that is unreal. The Sensei is awesome and the way he teaches the classes is informative, fun, and the techniques are extremely useful in competitions. The feeling I get from the school is that we are a big family we watch the fights together train and compete together. I recommend this school and program to anyone that needs a positive direction or fitness training in there life.

~JOSH PETERS

Tenbears has great martial arts classes.  I am a huge fan of jiujitsu and would recommend it to anyone.  It's a great family environment and Sinsei Jim is very patient and ensures that everyone practices key moves correctly.  I know I live a healthier lifestyle now and have more confidence and overall fitness.  I'm learning self defense and gaining more appreciation for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

 ~Colin S.

The number one reason I signed up at Tenbears MMA was because I had a background of boxing and wanted to become more of a well rounded fighter. I wanted to improve my cardio and become more confident that if I end up on the ground in a fight that I will be able to handle the situation. The 3 most important benefits that I have received since I have started training here ; my self confidence has gone up by leaps and bounds, I have became a very well rounded fighter, and I have gained some lifelong friends. I am very happy with the instructors here. Their patience and knowledge of the arts of jiu jitsu, kickboxing, and judo are one of the main reasons that I committed to the school. My overall feeling is that it has become an extension of my family. The respect we give each other here is something you don’t find at every school. I don’t feel like just another statistic here. I would recommend this martial arts school in Dayton to anyone that wants to learn self defense, lose weight, and or compete in jiujitsu. You won’t find a more well rounded school in the area.

~Matt M

The number one reason I wanted to join a martial arts school is to get fit.  I also want to gain more self discipline because I want to become a professional MMA fighter.  So far I have lost 20 pounds, I am much more flexible and I have tons of energy.  Tenbears is the greatest martial arts class in Dayton and it feels like part of my family here. I would definitely recommend this especially as an alternative to karate classes or taekwondo.

~ Angel Burke

Martial Arts DaytonI joined Tenbears MMA mainly to improve on my self defense. The benefits that I have received from this school are endless. Some of the main ones are physical fitness, overall martial arts training and knowledge, and meeting and getting to know others that train many different Martial Arts styles. I have gotten a lot of experience doing ground work (jiu jitsu), also my striking and fitness level have improved by leaps and bounds. I feel the instructor is as much a part of the class as the students. That is something that I don’t see in other school and I think it helps with the overall comradery in the school. My feelings about the school as a whole are it’s a very friendly school and not competitive at all, even though some of the students do compete. I recommend this program to anyone who wants to get into better shape and or learn some real life self defense and/ or MMA.

~Torrey

I love to compete and have always been a big fan of full contact competition. I had wrestled for many years and decided that this would be a more advanced and technique style of competition. Two of the biggest benefits I got from this school and style of training are honor and respect. I learned that honoring and respecting the school, the sensei, and most importantly myself I was able to advance in the sport.  The leadership skills and humility I learned from this school are something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The feeling I get when I hit the mats and start training is indescribable. The way the classes are taught to the people that train in the school it’s like no other school I have ever been to.  I recommend this school to anyone that is at all interested in training or trying any style of Martial Arts.

I joined Tenbears Martial Arts Academy mainly to get back into shape. As a result my self confidence went way up and my stress level has gone done by leaps and bounds. In the 6 months I have been training here at Tenbears MMA I have lost 30 POUNDS. I have met a great group of guys that I train with, and have also learned a very practical art. The Sensie’s instructions are simple and he really takes the time to make sure that you understand the techniques. The feeling I get at this school isn’t that of a school at all. It reminds me of a family. I would recommend this school to everyone. I have tried so many other schools in the area and none of them compare to the training I get here at Tenbears MMA. Plus with the 30 DAYS FREE you can’t go wrong.

 ~Mike f

I joined the Tenbears Academy in Dayton mainly to lose weight and improve my over all health. Self defense is also important to me and my family. In one month of class (two days a week) I have lost 6 lbs and one pant size. I feel a drastic difference in my stress level too! Sensei Jim is great and there is a real sense of camaraderie in the class. I’m so glad I'm here and would recommend this martial arts school to anyone.

~JASON ROGERS

The main reason I wanted to train is because I love watching MMA fights on TV. I really just wondered if I could do that type of competition also. I joined Tenbears MMA to try and improve my fighting skills. To say the least I am getting in better shape then I thought I would, I am getting stronger, and my fighting skills have improved drastically. The way the instructor teaches the class is unlike I thought it would be. He really gets in the class just like the students and trains with us. My overall impression of the school is friendly. The way the other student's seem to wanna get to know you kinda caught me off guard, its like a big family. I recommend this program to anyone that wants to improve their self defense skills and or compete.
